What to do if after GDV Software installing and trying to make GDV captures the computer restarts/ freezes or you see the blue screen.

If you see the blue screen of Windows when you are trying to start GDV Capture, or the computer freezes or restarts, it means that an old, not Windows-compatible driver version was installed for working with GDV devices. You need to remove these drivers from your computer and then to install an updated version of drivers.

Further never install drivers from old disks, otherwise the procedure
of removal should be repeated.

How to remove drivers for working with GDV devices:

  1. Make sure that none of the programs from the GDV Software has been started
  2. Disconnect the GDV deice from the computer
  3. Download the archives CDMuninstallerGUI.zip>>
  4. Unzip it and run CDMuninstallerGUI.exe. You will see the following window:

5. Press button “Add” in the right-hand part of the window. The entered parameters “VendorID” and “ProductID” will be added to the list of devices for removal:

6. Enter in to field “ProductID” 6006 instead of 6001. “VendorID” must stay unchanged (0403):

7. Again press button “Add”. The second device will be added to the list of devices for removal:

8. Press button “Remove Devices”. If any warning messages appear, answer positively. The drivers for the devices with indicated parameters will be removed from the system. You will see the message:

If on step 8 Windows sends you a message that the suitable drivers have not been found, you need to make the so-called upgrade of your GDV device: to reprogram the USB identifier.
This procedure is done by technical support of “KIRLIONICS TECHNOLOGIES INTERNATIONAL” and specialists of GDV Sales Centers.

 

How to manually install drivers for working with GDV devices:

  1. Start the GDV Capture program. Open window ”About program”. See the build date of the program. If it is April 2009 or later, download the archives with drivers GDVDrivers32-64.zip>>

    If the date is before April 2009, download the archives with drivers GDVDrivers.zip>>.
    Close GDV Capture and make sure that other programs of the GDV Software are not started.
WARNING: If there is a 64-bit Windows version on your computer, the GDV Capture version
must be of April 2009 or newer. If your version of GDV Capture is older, please, refer
to technical support of “KIRLIONICS TECHNOLOGIES INTERNATIONAL” for the program update.

2. Unzip the downloaded archives. Remember the path to the unpacked driver files

3. Connect the GDV device to the computer and switch on the power of the device

4. On the computer screen you will see the request for installing the driver for the connected device:

5. Select item “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)” and press ”Continue”:

6. In the next window select ”Search for the best driver in these locations” and check ”Include this location in the search”. Uncheck ”Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM, …)” :

7. Press button ”Browse” and select the folder to where you unzipped the downloaded archive with drivers. Press button “Continue”.

8. Windows will begin to install drivers. Answer all warning messages positively. After the drivers have been installed the following window will appear:

9. Windows may repeatedly ask for driver installation. Then repeat items 4-8 once more.

10. That’s it! The drivers have been successfully installed. You may start GDV Capture and try to obtain GDV-images using the GDV device.
